The Department of Information Communication
offers the first interdisciplinary program integrating the
fields of cutting edge information technology, communication
media, and sensorial design in Taiwan. Its aim is to develop
technology application specialists for the communication media
field, as well as to foster communication media experts for
the information technology field. In other words, this department

In response to the trends of converging information technology,
communication media, and sensorial design, Professor Cheng first
proposed to establish the department of information
communication in 1991. After the review and passage of this
proposal by the Education Ministry, Yuan Ze University started
up this new department in March, 1993, and began the process of
admitting students to both the undergraduate and graduate
programs in August, 1994. The first department chairman was
Professor Sheng-Uei Guan. Next, Professor Ju-Sheng Liu,
Professor Chao-Yun Liang, Professor Chuan-Pin Chu, Professor
Wen-Shou Chou and Professor Pei-Chann Chang chaired the
department in turn. At present, Professor Yi-Xian Huang serves
as the department chairman.

students, reaching 200 students in total in two classes.
