To develop technology application specialists for the communication media field, as well as to foster communication media experts for the information technology field.


The undergraduate program is joined together with two concentrations: Digital Media Design concentration focuses on multimedia design and production; and Interactive Edu-tainment Technology concentration focuses on the technology application of e-learning, computer game, and interactive device. The master degree program emphasizes the research in two areas: Digital Media Design concentration focuses on the integrated design and production management of digital content; Interactive Edu-tainment Technology concentration focuses on technology integration and innovative services of virtual edu-tainment program.



1. Integration of technological applications and the academic
theory of the information communication field.
2. Design of communication media supported by digital technologies.
3. Production management practice of digital media.
4. Development, promotion, and research of digital media services.
5. Research, development, and promotion of edu-tainment technology.
6. Organizational operation and product development of multimedia industry.
7. Research of InfoCom policies and cross-culture study.




Rich and pragmatic courses include: multimedia design, computer animation, applied photography, advertisement production, digital image processing, digital video production, interactive script production, applications of information networking, TV production, graphic design, recording and mixing, media writing, marketing communication, information services, audience analysis, project management, human-computer interaction design, infocom policies, media management, communication laws and ethics, etc.



The wide coverage of the faculty members' specialties, e.g. visual design, communication media, information technology, educational technology, fine arts, mirrors the developmental trend of media convergence. The Department owns state-of-the-art facilities and labs where fully-equipped with networks and possesses a
variety of student aids and assistantships.


Beginning from 2001, this department forms a strategic alliance with the profession-related departments in several distinguished domestic universities. These universities would include National Chengchi University, National Chiao Tung University, National Chung Cheng University, National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, Chung Yuan Christian University, etc.



The well-known industries including mass communication, information technology, ad design, and multimedia production, actively offer various intern opportunities for students. In 2008, the industries offered nearly 128 well-paid internships to 90 junior students.



The Department regularly offers graduate-level courses for the digital content industry, and keeps a close connection with the government and the industry, which in turn, provides valuable experiences for faculty members and students to participate in a variety of research and development projects.
